Butterflies are insects.
Insects have three body parts: head, thorax, abdomen.
Insects have six legs attached to the thorax and two antennae (feelers) attached to their head.
Butterfly wing patterns are formed with very tiny overlapping scales. The colors protect the butterfly’s body by confusing other insects and birds that would eat the butterfly.
Types of butterflies: Aphrodite, Monarch, Fritillary, Angle Wing, Copper, Swallowtail, Red Admiral, Morpho
